“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. ” Matthew 24:35
There are many things that Jesus says in the Bible that are amazing, I am in awe of many of them. I am reading and learning more everyday, First 5 that I mentioned yesterday is currently focusing on Luke. It is one account of His whole story, I’ve heard the story many times but when it is broken down and I dig deeper into it, I am getting a much clearer picture.
Satan is a very real being, he is on the prowl to devour God’s plan and purpose for us. It is weird how he knows us and calculates his attacks on us. It is actually very maddening to think he uses our circumstances and our weak places to bring us down.
However, we have been armed with very powerful weapons to use against him. The Bible tells of the armor we should use, peace, righteousness, salvation, faith, and prayer. Sounds simple right?
Sometimes we know what to do, but it is hard to actually put it into action! However, that is all we simply need to focus on, when we sense things going haywire. Pray! Call out scripture! Something I read this morning was about when Eve and Jesus were both tempted by the devil, they both had very different outcomes. The devil made the fruit look good, which doesn’t seem all that bad except it was forbidden! However, when Jesus was tempted by Satan during a time of fasting with food, his immediate response was scripture to shut him down. He didn’t fall into the trap Satan was trying to set for him. So, it is possible to stand firm, it requires serious action on our part!
We all face temptations everyday, what Eve faced that day is not much different from things we face. I give into guilty pleasure, I often put my thoughts and desires first and foremost instead of what I know to be right and true. We are offered forgiveness for all of these things, God has extended grace to each of us.
Two things to mention here:
- Nothing is impossible with Jesus.
2. No one is too far gone or too bound. by sin to be set free by Him.
These are two things to keep in mind when facing odds against you or someone you care about. Jesus loves to do what everyone else says is impossible, don’t be afraid to ask. Also, no one is too far gone! We have learned this first hand through many different occasions, there were times we wanted to give up but with God’s help we have seen many miracles through not giving up. Allen’s Dad battled a 40 year addiction, it was terrible! And believe me, there were many times we wanted to throw our hand up and give up, but we didn’t. God made him just like he made you and me! Now, we have a new man in our life! One our boys adore and we respect and admire for fighting the good fight! He now shares his story to help others, God can do the impossible.
With heroine, meth and other drugs on the rise, this is a hard subject to tackle. We can pray and do our part to help out, we still have to love the people, not the sin! It will look different for everyone, but don’t give up. Don’t enable, but don’t give up either! God can use any and every situation for His glory!
So, let’s come right back at Satan when he tries to tempt us, tell us were not good enough or that we can’t handle all that lies ahead! We can fight the good fight against Him with Jesus on our side, we can knock him out with the armor of God!
My prayer for you today is that you know you are good enough, you can do great things with your life no matter what anyone tells you or says about you. Remember the verse I quoted at the beginning, His words will never pass away, use them to change your life and those around you! Don’t let the devil steal one more ounce of joy from you! Be like Jesus when Satan tempts you, not like Eve! Don’t let him win, knock him out with scripture and truth immediately!
