Romans 15:13 says, May the God who gives you hope fill you with great joy. May you have perfect peace as you trust in Him. May the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope.
Who doesn’t want joy, peace and hope? I think those are all qualities that we all want to embody, but sometimes just don’t feel they are even possible. I’m here today to tell you that they most certainly are and that they are not that far from your reach.
They require a can do attitude, they start right smack dab in the middle of your heart.
They require FAITH!
Every turn I have made this week has brought faith to the forefront in my life, every devotion, bible verse, my bible study, even in texts from friends of their studies. It’s all around me this week and it is what God wants me to share with you. What exactly is faith, according to Cobe’s Adventure Bible, it is trust and belief in God. Knowing that God is real, even though we can’t see him. The dictionary says, complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
This is exactly what God wants out of us, complete trust. COMPLETE, that is serious, it involves letting go of control. I know what I am saying is hard but it is so true and so rewarding. Look at some people in the Bible who gave complete trust, in Hebrews 11 it tells of some of the legends of the Bible and what they did and how they used faith if God to do great things. Think of Noah, Abraham, Sarah and Moses, they used their faith in God to change the history of the world. How are they different from us? God made us the same way He made them, they were obedient. They gave complete control of their lives over to God, just the way we can also do it.
There is no need to wait one more second, don’t make one more excuse. I have done that for too long, I slow rolled this blogging process. I decided in January to create a blog, I was certain that God was calling me to do this. Then I used the excuse that I couldn’t figure it out, I couldn’t make the cute image in my head appear on the screen. Then I thought I need a laptop just for blogging, then I couldn’t find free time to collect my thoughts. I was scared I would have nothing to say that anyone would want to read, I read books on blogging that told me to do a lot of things that I could not even comprehend. So, I froze! Not gonna lie, I have done this a lot. When things don’t go the way I think they should I close the book and don’t look back. I don’t think I’m alone in this. What if one of the people I mentioned earlier froze and turned back at their first crippling thought? What if Moses decided freeing the Israelites was too much trouble! I can’t even imagine! Generations would have been impacted!
Don’t let fear cripple you one more second from what God is calling you to do. Start right this minute, I finally listened to His one millionth nudge when I wrote my first blog post in November. I took that one step and He is loving me in ways I have never known, He is speaking to me. I used my phone to write all of my blogs, I didn’t need a blogging laptop. He is waking me up early to enjoy quiet peaceful time with Him, I have not set an alarm once, I gently awake and know it is my time. I started with everything not living up to what standards I had set for myself. I got the message out, I most usually sit down to write and have no clue what I am going to say. He floods my mind, the words literally come from Him straight to You. He is using these words, I am hearing from you and God is speaking right into your life. All I literally do is say yes and not put it off for one more minute. Go where God is leading you today!
Why can’t we change generations, why can’t we be the loudest voice? Why can’t love rule in our world, IT CAN! We can start our own movement. Step out in faith today. Follow God’s calling and prompting in your life.
My friend sent me a copy of her devotion from yesterday, I have to share a bit of it. It was written by Sharon Jaynes.
She talked about the march around Jericho, they were given an odd request, march for 6 days and on the 7th day the walls would fall. What if they quit on the 6th day because they could see no results(not even one brick had moved), they would have missed it all together. Don’t miss it, keep the faith! Your 7th day is just around the corner…God will move barriers out of the way, He will mend and heal, He can do anything! He is always at work on our behalf even when we can not see it. John 5:17 says, “My Father is always at work.”
She said “Sometimes you have to be willing to look ridiculous and be radical to live a remarkable life. The choices you make when you feel God’s nudge will become the hinges on which your destiny swings. Each individual decision you make to obey or ignore God’s promptings and directives is a thread that weaves the tapestry of your life.”
Were not always going to know, but we have to have faith and trust! Don’t ever give up or think your not capable because you are. We all are, we just have to have a little faith and tap into what God has in store for us.
So, start letting your destiny swing today!
