What does a date night look like for you? That is a very important question because date nights are vital in all relationships. It should be a time of communication between you and your date, it should look different from the norm.
It is our time to connect, we have been on routine date nights and they are just that routine. However, when you cherish the time together, it becomes so much more. We have been planning this date for his birthday weekend for months, who knew when we got to this date our lives would look the way they do now. Well God did because we can see Him at work in every piece and detail.
For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5
It is probably no secret that over the past year or so we have gone through a great struggle, we had to sell our home that we thought we would grow old in, we moved into my parents house. We had to make a lot of changes and sacrifices to get to where we are today.
We were literally down to our last shred of hope before we saw a bit of a glimmer, we had to try everything on our own until we would eventually throw our hands up and give our life over to God. Every detail over to Him…He put us in the right place at the right time, every time!!!
Looking back on the last 6 months, I’m in awe. God has put us in a position in life where we must trust Him and while that was very scary at first, it is now FREEDOM!
We rely on Him and He relys on our obedience. He has filled me with faith that can move mountains, I trust Him so much with my life right now. I have thrown away what the world thinks my life should look like and I trust His plan for my life. Just simply think about it, He created me, He has a plan for me far better than any of my best controlling habits could pull off. Why did it take so long? Idk! I’m knowing that it was because I wanted it my way, if you know me, really know me, you know I like my way! Ha.
To let that feature free, it set me free. I wish I could say that I threw my hands up in submission, but I threw them up, giving up! However, when I did that He picked me up and put me on solid ground and got right to work. I fought, some days to hard, then I would eventually fall back on my face and He would pick me up again. I’m sure it will happen again, but He is always faithful and I try really hard to not get caught back up in old habits.
When I/we put complete trust in God, He went to work on our behalf. He sent people in our direction that would change its course. We began to fulfill things that we had only dreamed about. He is putting every piece into place and we are seeing our lives unfold into this beautiful story right in front of our very eyes. It is a type of plan only God could form. It is beautiful!
So, to answer my question about what a date night looks like. It looks like love and understanding! It’s being grateful for everything, one thing we were both excited about yesterday was a nice long shower (camper showers are quick and to the point). It is loving no matter what, it was undivided attention to one another, it was yummy food, I am convinced I could live on bang-bang shrimp alone! It was reclining movie seats and laugher. We didn’t expect anything from each other, we loved each other right where we were. It is God centered love and it feels so good!
We had such a great first day, I can hardly wait to see what today brings!
Look for the best in the people you come into contact with today. Give them hope, have faith in yourself, and most importantly, have faith in God!
