Yesterday I asked, how do you forgive, which is a very important question for us to examine ourselves on but today I want to urge you to think about how you give back for what has been given to you.
It is so vital to life to give back what has been given to you, if not more. My dream is to just give and give and give, I’m not too far off from my goal! I love the gift of giving, it fills me with such Joy. It is Biblical to give a portion of what has been given to you back to God for the greater good of the world. There are many different forms of giving; time, money, talents, the list could really go on and on.
We try to touch on each of these a bit in our giving and life, my talents are not vocal or star worthy status but they are me simply offering the things I’m good at to others. I love middle school and teenagers, so I give my time to a group of 15-20 of them weekly. We meet and discuss life and what’s going on in their world. I want to teach them to go beyond their comfort level or “cool status” to be the people they were created to be. We’re going to Gatlinburg in a couple of weeks with them, I’m sure I will have a lot of life lessons to share after that experience. Ha!
We give to many world organizations, I love seeing the joy on children’s faces when they are met with hope that they did not have before! Allen and I will one day go somewhere in the world, hopefully with some of you and drill a water well for a community with no running water! Can you really, I mean really imagine not having running water?
Here are two fantastic groups that we give through, check out their short videos of what they are about.
You’ll have to copy and paste the compassion link, I’m still learning peeps.
World Help and Compassion International are both making the whole wide world a better place, they love the seemingly unloveable, they meet people in their darkest places. God has used both of these organizations to move me closer to Him. There are many organizations making a difference, pick one! It’s bigger than anything we can do on our own.
Give right in your home town, I love the Angel Tree program. Or you can simply go to your local school and just ask where you can help. Morgan and I tried doing this with our 12 days of giving challenge, it didn’t really take off and I’m not so sure why. However, if you want to give back to her challenge, today is the day. They are going to get gifts today to pass out tomorrow at school. The kids they are shopping for are in a last-ditch effort classroom, if they don’t make it in this class the next step is being expelled. Can you even imagine what kind of homes they have grown up in to be in this situation! Some of them are even homeless, please reach out asap if you want to help in this way.
I feel that each of us are so blessed to be where we are right now, for example we are each utilizing the Internet on some device right this minute, so there is always something we can offer. It may not be much, but if we each give a little it means a whole lot!
Give, open your home to someone, be kind to one another. Make a bold statement to not falter anymore, be the person you were created to be. Give more than you receive, it’s the best gift you can give yourself. Ring the Salvation Army bell, it’s hard for someone not to stop by when your standing right there, I know my boys and I will be. Don’t make anymore excuses, just do it!
Peace and love! Nat
