Don’t we all want perfect peace, don’t we all want to live in perfect harmony? I know I do, I want peace, I want to embody it, I don’t like turmoil and strife. I want to run from it, I am frustrated by drama, and unnecessary strife. I want to be a peaceful person, I want a peaceful lifestyle, I want a peaceful marriage, I want to be a peaceful Mom. Truth is, I Can. It requires a choice on my part. We all can, but we have to choose peace, it is a choice that we must make. I love how God brought this message about today, this was our sermon yesterday and in two of the devotions I read this morning. God moves in only ways that He can, although I heard this message yesterday morning, I didn’t apply it. I let doubt and worry creep in, I let things get to me that I had entrusted to God last week. Why? I knew the way out, but I didn’t choose it.
Peace is a choice, there will always be outward circumstances in our lives that aren’t peaceful. That is just life. It’s the inward choice that we can do something about, this is where obtain our peace. We must choose peace every time, all the time. We must make a conscious choice to let it rule in our hearts.
John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you; my presence I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Do you believe the Bible? Think that through, do you believe the print on the pages? If you answer yes, then begin today applying scripture to your life. It is filled with wonderful promises, God wants us all to thrive and flourish as human beings. And if you answered yes, He wants us to help the ones that would answer no to this question come to understand God’s mission more clearly. He wants to fill our lives with many things such as strength, courage, blessing, and peace! We don’t have a laundry list of do’s and dont’s, we just need to live a life that exemplifies His perfect peace.
There is a saying that says ” Know Peace, Know God; No Peace, No God”, there is something to this. Come to know God if you don’t, He is waiting patiently for you. He wants you, He wants you right now, just the way you are. He wants you to encounter His peace and know it! He wants you, He wants a real relationship with you. If you don’t know where to begin, start by reading His word, get a Bible and read it, there is a free one in the app store. It is great!
Start chasing after His perfect peace, it is meant for us! He doesn’t want us to be troubled my turmoil and life’s circumstances. He wants us to live peacefully, He wants us to live intentionally. He wants us just as we are to mold us into who He wants us to be. He doesn’t give as the world gives, he doesn’t instill fear in us. That is not from God, it is not His promise to us. He offers love and grace, He is not waiting to slap at your hand when you disobey, He is offering His peace to you and to me! Reach out and grab it and make it a part of your daily life! Make the choice today, life will always be life, how we choose to embrace each day is up to us. It’s not a promise of a perfect life that will never have another awkward circumstance, it is a promise of peace in the storm
