Today, I’m getting a new dose in patience. We decided to get Cobe a puppy for Christmas, it took a lot of convincing on my part to persuade Allen as to why this was such a good choice. While it has been fun and she is adorable, she is a puppy. She is loads of fun in the day, but at night it’s a different story. She doesn’t want to sleep in her crate, it’s fab?. She cries like we are torturing her, while it is the safest place for her she is sure to let me know she does not agree. We will eventually get there, but I am learning patience in a new way, it is usually to the tune of 4am.
I wanted this undesirable change and while I did and do, it comes with some good and bad. I think that there is always good and bad, I let her adorable snuggles, her sweet demeanor and her ability to be calm and learn from us out weigh the fact that a full nights sleep is a bit of a way off. I do treasure sleep.
Her safe place is not her favorite, she feels safe and secure when she is right by our side. Just as we should feel safe and secure right by our Savior’s side, we might not always be in our favorite places in life but if we persist and push on we will prevail. He will always be there for us, teaching us and leading us in the right direction. We are a lot like puppies, hopefully no one minds to be referred to as an adorable puppy. While we are teaching her and she is trusting us, she will to learn from us and mimic our behaviors. We should be learning and mimicking Christ’s behaviors, learning and growing into more obedient people each day.
She may not like her crate but she will eventually learn to like it, we may not like what spot life has us in right now but we can learn to if we just trust. When we are in our hardest places we learn the most, we learn what to do again and what to not do again. The people we spend time with shape us into who we become, make sure you are around people who are shaping you for the better not the worst.
We can change and learn and grow into better people each day. It is a choice, we are not perfect. There is always a new and better way, I think I am really learning that a lot lately. Things don’t always have to be the same because we always used to do it that way. Change is good, it requires us to give something on our part, but the outcome is always for the better. We can’t always see it right in front of us, but over time we can if we are willing.
Are you willing to bend and break to make something new? Some of the most beautiful pieces of art are made from broken glass. Let’s be broken into many pieces so we can be put back together by Christ and be a magnificent masterpiece!
I know once I was willing to be broken and I began shedding some unwanted pieces of myself, I felt relieved. I am slowly being sculpted into what God wants me to be, you can do it too. Just give your life over to Him to mold and create a masterpiece like only He can.
I pray you each have a super week! We are heading to Gatlinburg today, 21 in total. Pray we are safe and have a great time together, God has big plans in store for the teenage lives I will be with this week. They are a one of a kind group, my prayer is that I guide them by my actions and unconditional love for each of them. I want them to live real lives for Christ, not just when they are inside the church walls but ALL the time. Just as I want that for you and myself. I think we should all strive to be in a place where our private lives and our public lives mirror one another. We shouldn’t have anything going on behind closed doors that we wouldn’t want the world to see. I think that just may be one of the keys to becoming a beautiful masterpiece.
