This was a question in my devotion this morning, and I love where the thought process took me. I’ve mentioned it before but if you are looking for some daily inspiration, check out proverbs31.org, the tools they provide are very meaningful and life changing if you will let them be.
So, the author of the devotion asked, what are your dreams? Not your families or your spouses, but what are your individual dreams? He explained that sometimes we get caught up in the daily grind and lose ourselves. It is very true and was very true in my life.
We were going day in and day out through the motions, not really liking what we were doing but doing it because we were supposed to, or so we thought at least. Finally, one night we were laying in bed chatting and it was as though a light bulb went off in our heads at the same time. We realized we could change our course if we wanted to, it would take some work but it was doable. So, we began the process, of course when things didn’t do a 180 the next day, it was a bit discouraging. I tend to get an idea and want to see results immediately. However, as we most know that is rarely ever the outcome, it took time and patience. We are still on this journey, but we are enjoying our life. It has caused many changes and we live a life that really mirrors no other one, we have never been so challenged. I have learned more about things that I never knew I wanted to know in the last six months or so.
That night when we began a new journey was almost 2 years ago, if things would have happened over night I can now see all of the valuable lessons we would have missed out on. Each step and detour has led us to this exact moment. No, things are not just peachy but the way we deal with life is becoming more and more awesome each day. The way we deal with each other and communicate is growing in very healthy and meaningful ways.
We are still daily faced with trials, we are still working toward our life goals. We are still working out the variables to get gas flowing in the gas line. We still daily try to manage our life on the road, going back and forth between two homes, homeschooling and TRAINING THIS PUPPY!
So, to answer the question for me, what are my dreams, they are and have always been to be happy. To live a happy, meaningful, fulfilling life. I want to change the world for the better, I want to travel to the far ends of the earth and share life with people who have no hope. I want to leave my mark, I want to share with each of you and help you grow.
So, while my life is not perfect, I am actually living the dream. Literally, I am living life the way God wants me to, the way I want to, it is not always easy but I am learning. I am learning from mistakes, I am leaning on God and not my own understanding. I remind myself that God is not surprised by the daily events that frustrate me, He knew and knows exactly how everyday will go for me. My choice and what I do, how I react, that are the things I can control. I do not get it right every time, but I am getting better. Practice makes perfect, so I will keep on trying and doing my best. That is really all that God asks of me.
That is all He asks of any of us, to keep trying and putting our very best efforts forward. So I want to encourage you today to ask yourself what are your dreams. What do you want your life to look like? And go for it 100% and don’t look back! You are the only one that can make the choice to achieve the life you desire. Go in God’s will and He will take you farther than you ever thought possible!
God Bless Peeps, thanks for reading what God lays on my heart!
