How did your day begin today? Did your feet hit the floor in excitement for the new day or did you think oh no, here we go again?
Very valid question to ask yourself, I have experienced both. Where the thought of the day ahead seems horrible, long, full of things I don’t want to do, etc. Thankfully as of lately I have been striving for joy in the day upon awakening.
It is an achievable goal, I had been dreading taking down the outside Christmas decorations at my parents house. I have literally had no time to do it, I will be honest here, at times I felt sorry for myself that this was a responsibility on my shoulders. I mean why shouldn’t it be, I helped put them there.
Well today was finally the day I was hoping to get the job done. I got up, did my devotion, got Emerson going with his school work and went to it. It turned out to be so much more that just cleaning up after Christmas. I had my favorite Playlist on, the weather was beautiful, and I got everything I wanted done. As I was reflecting on this very subject, I began to wonder why it wasn’t so bad after all.
I was doing if for someone else, I was working for God not for man. I have been striving to achieve this, to do everything I do as though I’m doing it for God and not for man. It is really changing my outlook and outcome, when we were working last week on the gas line in 5° weather, I really began to pull on this strength. It helped then, just as it did today. I got to have quiet time, I got to go at my own pace, as an added bonus I knocked out 10K steps before lunch! I enjoyed doing this for my parents even though they won’t see it, I did my best for God.
I think there is a lot more to this, I am just beginning to understand this topic. There is a lot for us to learn, but it is a lesson that is worth it.
I think we all compare our work loads to others, well he or she didn’t do it so I don’t have to. They aren’t doing their fair share, so I’m not going to either. Don’t fall into those traps, we should always give our best no matter what effort others are putting forth. If you start to work for God and not for man, you begin to just “do you”, I think that is very important to start to grasp.
We should all do our best no matter what, we should try even when our spouses don’t. We should love even when it is hard. We should carry our work load and help others out when they need it. We don’t need to compare anymore, we need to each do our very best. If we have to do the dishes every time, we should be thankful that there was food to eat. If we have to clean up messes that we didn’t make, we should be glad we have people who spend time with us. There are always numerous ways to approach every situation, make sure you are giving your best in all you do.
God is worth our very, very, very best!
If you start to add little pieces of God into everything you do, you will begin to love your days. You will have so much joy that you can’t contain it. It does require you to do your part, hope you will get started today. It is changing my life and I know it can do the same for you if you are willing to give it a shot!
