As I mentioned yesterday, each day we get up and have choices. Many of them, some easy, some difficult. I was talking with my family last night and this week has been a battle field, I don’t know what you’ve been facing in your life, but our crew has had a week of it. Job security, our law enforcement has been pushed to its limits, other drama that I can’t even go into, but deep scary stuff that can stop you in your tracks!
God has not promised that we won’t have strife in our life, but He has promised that He will walk through it by our side. Are you ready, can you deal? Life can come at you quick, you have to be ready to stand firm and go to battle so you don’t lose your footing. Equip yourself, because it’s not if, it’s when.
Equipping ourself is where real obedience comes in, we must spend time with God. Learning more about Him, understanding His word, leaning on His promises. I’ve said before, one way for me is getting up early before anyone in my house. I did today, and the dog was ready and waiting. She is driving me bonkers, I have been outside 72 times, well maybe not 72 but you know what I mean. ? Either way, I am being obedient and enjoying quiet time inside and out. When we are WITH God, we get reassurance about our lives. We have a clear outlook, we have strength to face the battles of the day.
We are reminded of His goodness, amongst all of the battles this week we have life changing joy to celebrate. Our family is growing in numbers this year, my parents are welcoming a new great-grandchild, when more faithful prayers are answered, there will be a few more added to that growing picture. When are with God to simply be with Him, not expecting anything in return, we get everything in return.
I used to just come to God when I needed something, when I didn’t get it, I wouldn’t return to spend time with Him until I needed something else. I never took time to cultivate a two-way relationship. Now that I do, I couldn’t imagine it any other way. I need Him, and He needs me, He has a plan for me. I learn a little more about it each day. It is really exciting.
Get in a routine, form a two-way relationship with God. It will change your life, mine is proof.
Equip yourself for the days that you don’t think you can handle one more thing, like days when you wake up in a camper alone, work all day in the rain, get none of your extremely important to do list tasks checked off, your defeated by the facts in front of you, once you finally decide to let it sit and get some rest. You start for home with a 100 + mile drive ahead, you hit a deer(damage your truck), then 60 miles later, hit a coyote. Those days, equip yourself for them, because words from other people aren’t going to make it better. Only God can mend those days, not an overly grateful wife who is always pushing joy when you just want to give in and have a bad day. Allen had to lean on God yesterday even though he probably didn’t want to, luckily he finally made it home to us. I am grateful, I was beginning to wonder. However, the boys and I went to battle on his behalf and it helped.
Sometimes, our people just need us to love them, not try to mend everything. I’m a fixer, I want to make everything better for everybody. I’m slowly realizing that is not always my job, sometimes I need to set back and let God do His job.
Equip yourselves friends, your life depends on it!
