I hope you put some real thought into what I said yesterday, who is the real you? My goal is to be the same “me” around everyone, I used to have the “church Nat”, “friends Nat”, “wife Nat”, I think you get it. I wasn’t ever really just me, I would try to fit into every picture who I thought people wanted me to be. As I mentioned yesterday, it was exhausting. So, now I focus on being the “best Nat” everywhere I go. I strive to be the same person in all situations, I haven’t perfected it, but I will keep at it until I get it. I hope that you will too. Find out what that should look like for your life and go after it.
So, are you still working on being intentional, I have tried to keep at it all week, so far, so good. I have had a couple of moments of self arise, I was able to work through it and keep on loving those around me. Change always has to start with you! I’m learning all of the times I thought everyone else was so wrong, it was usually me. Ouch, true story though!
We have to be the change we want to see, I saw a post yesterday that said something about all of the Donald Trump saga. The same people who are so upset are the ones that are stirring the hate, they are doing exactly opposite of what they say they stand for. They are not accepting the choice of the people and if you get right down to it, the choice of God. He is the one that is ultimately in control. Interesting thought.
Not really trying to start a debate, just saying change the things that you can and accept the things that you can’t. That goes way farther than any election results, that is a way of handling life. Make sure what you are fighting for is worth it. That’s all.
So, let’s recap, 1st we looked outside ourselves to see what we could do for someone else without expecting anything in return, 2nd we have to take a good long look at forgiveness and see where we need it and need to give it, 3rd we think about who we really are and what we really stand for aside from everyone’s opinion. If we are intentionally doing these 3 things in everyday life, we are well on our way to living the life God has planned for us; loving, forgiving and being real.
If you are struggling in any of these areas, spend some time working through your emotions. We are called to love and serve, forgive and be our real selves. Before we can move forward we need to get these three down. They need to be part of all day, everyday. Not just on an as needed basis, we have to practice them 24/7.
..the greatest of these is love.
