I know I have been deceived before, probably many times. However, the worst is when I deceive myself. Ever been there? I believe into a lie and then the spiral begins…not until I see it for what it is do I even have a clue of the web I have gotten myself into.
Through various studies I have been doing lately, I am realizing that Satan is usually the culprit. I have to be ready and see him for who he is. It may sound crazy to some of you, but I hope that you will hear me out. Today in my “Finding, I Am” study which I highly recommend, she gave an excellent example and it goes back to the beginning of the Bible. God told Adam and Eve, You are free to eat from any tree except this one. When Satan came on the scene he said, did God say you must not eat from any tree in the garden? Do you recognize his play on words, he is out to twist the truth to get you to believe things that sound true but simply are not!
Last spring, I had been on a role for most of the year. I was doing daily devotions, spending time studying God’s word, really digging deeper and learning a lot. I’m not really sure I can pinpoint it, but I felt I was in a good place and I had this whole relationship thing figured out. As a result I began to slip into this weird mindset, I dropped all of my good habits, I let life rule me. I fell out of all of my good habits, I’m usually all or nothing. I was slipping further from Christ, my eating went crazy, I was losing faith when I needed it the most. I was trying to draw on my own strengths and it wasn’t enough! It was brutal and all of my relationships were harder than they should have been. I was losing myself, it happened just like that! I believed one lie and kept on believing them until I stopped and let God back in.
It takes real discipline. We have to see God for who He is and what He can do, and unfortunately we have to see Satan for who he is and what he wants to do with our peace of mind. Don’t let him twist the truth in your life anymore. Stand firm and kick him out of your life, your the only one who can, after all it is YOUR life! See him for the destroyer that he is.
In my Bible study today, it stated that Jesus is the way and the truth and the life. Period! He is the way, there is no other way. (John 14:5-14)
It is as simple as that, He is the only way. If you are believing something else then you are being deceived. He is the truth and the life. It is black and white, we must follow Him on his narrow path, not the widely traveled road.
I pray you will let this sink in today, hold steadfast to God, trust His plan. Do not let Satan sideline you anymore, God has a great big plan, bigger than anything Satan can put together. Recognize Satan for who he is and step out in freedom today. Do not let Satan rob you any longer from the way, the truth and the life. Don’t let him twist your story and get a leg in, call him for what he is. Put on your armor and get to work! Ephesians 6:10-18
In Deuteronomy 30:20, it gives three keys to this way of living.
That you may:
love the Lord,
listen to His voice
and hold fast to Him.
I challenge you to put these into practice today, God will get the final say in all of our lives! His plan is always better!
