I have been asked this loaded question for a long time, Allen has never just had a normal job. He has chased after his dreams and done many different things. From lawn care to property management to managing grocery stores. I can clearly now say that this is no longer a loaded question. My sweet loving husband is an oil and gas man! This job title obviously holds a very sincere place in my heart, as I have grown up an oil man’s daughter. There are many ups and downs to this business, but it is a love and once you get it in your blood, it just stays.
For whatever reason, I have always wondered which one of my family members would carry this torch on in our family. My grandfather was an oil man, my dad and my uncle are, and now Allen and my cousin are carrying on the tradition. It’s pretty cool if you ask me and just another way that I see God at work.
We have gotten a do-over in this life, we are basically in a lot of ways starting from scratch. While that may seem scary, it’s not at all. It is amazing! Our new fresh start doesn’t have a thing to do with us, as I have said before; we literally laid our life down at God’s feet and let Him orchestrate our plans. We are just being willing to bend and curve. We don’t always do it with grace and ease, but we are learning.
That is what I want to share today, if you start to turn your eyes to God and look for Him you will find Him. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” God is working on your behalf for good, when things are lining up and going your way, He is in your midst. He has favor on you, He wants life’s best for you. We are the ones that always get in there and mess around with life. When things are not going our way, He is still there , that is where we activate our faith.
Step back so you can step up!
God heard the cries of our hearts and mended them in His own way. We had no idea that we were headed in this direction, we had almost given up on this dream. Just think, if we did… God sent the right people at the right time to keep this going. He has been so evident in every step, we have often wondered what was going on. We were thrown some kinks that we just couldn’t understand, but each time we would look back to where we began and know that He was in control. We definitely won’t always know what is happening and why, but we know we can trust the one who made us, and that is good enough for me!
So, as I shared on Facebook earlier, we had a ribbon cutting to signify the project completion. It was an honor that Congressman Comer came out as well as many local officials from Hopkinsville. I wanted to share a little bit of that day with you on here since this is such a big part of our story right now.
Who knew that when we began this journey in August that it would lead us here…I want to encourage you not to give up, ever! Go a new direction, possibly, but never ever give up!
