There is so much buzz going on about the solar eclipse right now, it’s very exciting for us as we have moved right into the path of a perfect view of it as it rolls in on August 21st! We have since learned that in 7 years there will be another one of these natural wonders of space coming through and we will again be placed right in perfect view of it.
All that to be said, I’ve been sent countless articles and news clips about it from family and friends that explain all of the details of this total eclipse. Some have been very informational while others throw around ideas and opinions. One really caught my attention for various reasons. I want to share some of my thoughts on it.
He started with Genesis 1:14-15, it says, And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs, to mark seasons, and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” And so it was.
The word signs caught my eye in that verse, could this be a sign? Is it a coincidence that in 7 years there will be another. Seven, being a number that is used a lot in the Bible? Think about it?
It got me thinking about, what if? Go with me for a minute, I was here for the world ending and shutting down on NYE 1999, I get that many people say many things about the end of times. I’m not even going to approach that, what I am going to ask is a very real question. What if there was only 7 years left, how would you spend them?
Would it be different if you knew that you knew that you were approaching your last 7 years? If so, what is holding you back from living the life you desire only in fear of the end of the world?
We should all live each day as if it were our last, not out of fear but out of LOVE. We should be spreading so much love that it radiates all around us. That is what I’m going to do for the next 7 years, as well as the rest of my life. I’m going to be an advocate for love, grace and mercy. Some days it will be within the four walls of my home, some days it will branch out to others who can’t love themselves. From the nursing home to the foster care system, I’m no longer going to think that my small voice can’t make a difference in our hurting world. One person can make a difference, especially when they get a team of supporters like you guys behind them. We can each make the world a better place by setting an example for the world to follow.
I think that being a Christian has gotten so blurred with a strand of rules that one must follow, that is not the case at all. We are just supposed to love like Jesus. We are to try to mimic His character and share it with the world. Be simple, Be real!
