In keeping up with my verse for the year and figuring out how to incorporate it into my life and not just say it, I am learning so much. I wanted to share just a bit of that with you Today. My heart wants a to follow this verse with every beat, however my mind reels with demands, to do lists, bills that Pile up and so on. Making it difficult to remember to keep my focus on things above, not earthly things.
So, I clearly know what earthly things are. But what are things above? I’m finding that they are simpler than I imagined. Love, grace, forgiveness, self-control. Simpler in the sense of the word, not so much in producing the action. Self-control lingers all around, as I find myself scrolling Facebook while my kids and husband are available to spend time with me one on one. Or when I feel I must continue eating when I’m full, self-control is required, it is a thing from ‘above’. A very important thing from above, just as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and thankfulness are too.
I may not get them all right today, but my heart is trying and that is what counts for us both. That we move forward and we give our best to the ones we are blessed with. Start simply with a heart of thanksgiving. Today I get to sit in the stands with both of my parents and watch my healthy children play basketball. I mean I should be able to stop there reeling with joy! Not to mention a loving, faithful husband that will be by my side.
Start today by taking time today to be thankful for the things from above.
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, then you’ve seen this picture. It is a gift of 4 things from above that makes my heart skip a beat.
Look around, He is everywhere. Even in the face of these four precious souls. They are my sister’s firstborn boys, both holding miracles. We prayed so hard for both of these baby girls for a long time and here they are, both born within months of each other. A real treasure from above…❤
We must keep moving forward in steps of faith/big and small/following God and He will meet us every time. The key is to keep moving FORWARD!
Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:2
