Therefore let us stop passing judgement on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way. Romans 14:13
I know we are all accountable for our own steps and mis-steps but what about the steps of others. Well, if someone is put into our path for a reason and we lead them astray or closer to God for that matter then we have ultimately had a hand in God’s plan for that person. What we do and say is up to us. However, this isn’t something we should fear if we are living the type of life God has called us to live. One where we love our neighbors more than ourselves and where we love the Lord our God with all of our heart. And if your not there yet, you can be.
What are ways that we are stumbling blocks? One way that hit me heavy this morning, is unforgiveness. I woke up realizing something about myself, I have had animosity in my heart and unkind thoughts toward someone who wronged me almost 20 years ago.
WOW! I honestly did not realize it, although I have held onto it for so long…it only took seconds to do away with it. A simple, heartfelt prayer to God and just like that a weight was lifted. I want to encourage you to look inside yourself, what is hindering your daily walk with Christ. My faith is growing leaps and bounds by spending quality time learning more about our Creator, I don’t want anything to hinder that…especially unforgiveness that is so old and should be long gone. Thankfully, now it is.
Has someone done something to you that you wish wouldn’t have happened? Do you blame yourself for putting yourself in vulnerable situations that you knew better than to be in? Search yourself and come clean, it is freedom. Don’t let anything hinder your life with Christ. It is supposed to be a beautiful healthy relationship, work toward that goal.
My bible study said something today, that I loved. Ironically it is called “I Am Loved”, by Wendy Blight. She quoted, Warren Wiersbe from The Bible Exposition Commentary saying, “Love makes us stepping-stones; hate makes us stumbling blocks.” 1 John 2:9-11
Which would you rather be? A stepping stone or a stumbling block…I think that is an easy question to answer. We can’t be fully effective if we aren’t coming from a place of genuine love. What do you need to let go of today to walk in that fullness? Figure it out and make it happen. Don’t harbor hatred, it is a killer…literally. Work toward love and the building up of others. Spurring those you encounter to be more Christ-like, to help not hinder.
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
God, thank you for today. Thank you for sharing your word with us, may we each walk out your fullness and love in our lives today. Bring forth to the surface any thoughts and feelings that we have that aren’t of you, especially any unforgiveness we have toward another or even ourselves. We offer that place in our lives up to you, take it from us that we may walk step by step with you each day of our lives. Thank you for the freedom you offer to us, help us each to reach out and grasp it today in your name! Let us all live loved. Amen.
