He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”
This past Thanksgiving, we were in Campbellsville visiting our families. We had toyed with the idea of traveling back home to Hopkinsville on Saturday but opted to stay. The main reason was that my Dad wanted us to go to church with he and my mom, he had double checked with me numerous times to ensure my attendance.❤
Our gas wells even went down on Saturday night, something that requires us to be in Hopkinsville. However, God made a way for them to be looked after until we could get back on Sunday. Everything was pointing to us staying, so reluctantly we did.
We make it to church on time, there is the first miracle of the day😄. God had a special message for us that day, some of you know God has called us to enlarge our family and while we are seeking His direction on that, we encounter Timothy.
He was a guest speaker that day at our church, God had us right where he wanted us. Timothy gave his testimony, it was one story after another of God’s provision on his life. He lived in and was from Africa, through many trials to get where he currently is, he is exactly where God wants to use him. He asked God to send him to the place that needed him the most. He said that he arrived there at two in the afternoon however it was the darkest place he had ever seen. The worst of conditions, no water, no lights, no hope.
So, while many would run fast in the other direction, he didn’t. He stayed! He is where he can be the hands and feet of Jesus where he is most needed to further God’s will for his life and the lives of many.
He rescues children; children who have been literally left in empty houses after their parents have moved out and left them behind. Children who literally get dropped on door steps with no one to care for them. He is literally turning a community around. He is offering hope to the hopeless, loving the unloved. He is finding loving, Christian homes for these children, helping raise funds so they can get an education and become leaders in their community. Teaching them basic skills we take for granted!
We personally were right where God wanted us on that cold, sunny Sunday! We needed to hear his story, we needed to know we can help children hundreds of miles away. We can send support to children who literally have nothing!
I am asking you today to simply pray for this ministry(Embrace a Child). If you feel God tugging at your heart as he did ours, let me know and I can get you in touch with Timothy as well as some ambassadors here in Kentucky that have taken a hold of this vision. They have traveled to Africa and seen first hand, they go and teach God’s word and train up pastors who then take it to dark places.
While with this ministry we won’t physically adopt a child into our home, we will love them and support them from afar with our actions. Just as God has called us to do.
1 John 3:17-18
If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
